BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 5. "The Legend of
Khari Bulbul" and "The Odin's Code" documentary films,
directed by Swedish photographer and filmmaker Mikael Silkeberg
with the support of the National Commission of Azerbaijan for
UNESCO and the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Sweden, will be shown at
the Rex Cinema in Paris, Trend reports.
The films will be shown on November 7 within the framework of
the 2nd International film Festival "Cinema Heritage", the opening
ceremony of which took place at the Rex Cinema with the support of
the Embassy of Azerbaijan in France, the Permanent Mission to
UNESCO, and the National Commission of Azerbaijan for UNESCO.
"The Legend of Khari Bulbul" is the first documentary film made
after the liberation of Shusha, the musical capital of Azerbaijan,
from occupation. The film highlights its historical significance
and rich cultural heritage. It also tells the symbolic story of the
Khari Bulbul flower, which became a symbol of victory and freedom.
"The Odin Code" focuses on the historical ties between Azerbaijan
and the Scandinavian countries, particularly the visit to
Azerbaijan by the famous Norwegian scientist and traveler Thor
Heyerdahl, who attached great importance to studying these
connections, as well as the opinions expressed during his meetings
with the National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
At the opening ceremony, the Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to France,
Sadyk Sher-Niyaz, addressed the audience, and the festival
organizers declared the festival open. The Ambassador of Azerbaijan
to France, Leyla Abdullayeva, expressed gratitude to the Permanent
Representative to UNESCO, Elman Abdullayev, and the Secretary
General of the National Commission of Azerbaijan for UNESCO, Seymur
Fataliyev, for their support of the festival.
The festival is organized annually by the AITYSH France
Association in Paris, the cradle of cinema. The main goal of the
festival is to showcase new realities and images, promote talent,
and care for the exceptional world of filmmakers whose works have
become a part of the global film heritage. It aims to screen films
about people and cultures and promote dialogue between cultures and
nations.
The principle of the festival is to convey through the unique
language of cinema a message of tolerance, mutual understanding,
kindness, the preservation of cultural diversity, and unity.
The opening ceremony was attended by diplomats accredited in
France, cultural and artistic figures from France and participating
countries, directors, actors of the films being screened at the
festival, as well as members of the local community and diaspora of
various nations residing in Paris.
