Israel engages in conflict without coherent political strategy to underpin its longstanding colonial agenda

(MENAFN) According to 972 Magazine, Israel has engaged in conflict over the past year without a coherent Political strategy to underpin its longstanding colonial agenda in the region between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea. The events of October 7, marked by what many have called the deadliest massacre of Israeli civilians in the country’s history, signify a critical shift in the long-standing status quo of enduring occupation.

Under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s administration, Israel has adopted a policy of "conflict management," aiming to solidify its Occupation and expand settlements in Palestinian territories. This approach has also included efforts to contain fragmented Palestinian resistance, particularly through support for the "deterred" Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas.

However, human rights advocates and researchers have noted that key components of this strategy collapsed in the wake of the October 7 attacks. The assumption that the Palestinian national movement could be effectively suppressed, along with the belief that Hamas and Hezbollah could be controlled without political engagement, has been shown to be flawed. Moreover, the long-standing Zionist idea that Jewish settlements would provide security along Israel's borders has also come under scrutiny.

Experts assert that Israel's ongoing military operations in Gaza and Lebanon currently lack a clear political strategy for the post-conflict period. Instead, they argue that the primary focus appears to be on maintaining Netanyahu’s political standing. Despite this, there is a widespread perception that Israel remains committed to a strategic goal: to reinforce and deepen a system of Jewish supremacy over Palestinians. In this light, the previous year of conflict might be interpreted as what some analysts refer to as Israel's "first apartheid war."

In contrast to earlier military confrontations, Israel's current military campaign aims to bolster its racist political agenda, which was fundamentally challenged by the October 7 incident. This context illustrates Israel's steadfast refusal to explore any paths toward reconciliation or even a ceasefire with the Palestinian population, further complicating an already fragile and tense situation. The ongoing violence underscores an urgent need for a comprehensive reassessment of the future for both Israelis and Palestinians in the region, emphasizing the necessity for constructive dialogue and a resolution to the conflict.
