Qatar Celebrates Eid With Festive Joy

Doha, Qatar: Muslims across Qatar began Eid Al Adha celebrations with prayers and greetings yesterday morning. A plethora of events and activities kicked off in various locations highlighting the festival across the country in the evening.

Eid Al Adha, also known as the festival of sacrifices, is observed on Dhul Hijjah 10, and is one of the most important occasions in Islam. It commemorates Prophet Ibrahim's ultimate test of faith when Allah commanded him to sacrifice his son Ismail, before providing a lamb as a substitute.

Eid Al Adha this year is celebrated from June 16 to 20 with vibrant events, special deals, and exciting activities across Qatar that are perfect for those seeking short stays and leisurely experiences, and families spending fun-filled quality time together.

Yesterday evening, all major venues of the Eid Al Adha activities attracted a huge number of visitors. The Cultural Village Katara has once again reaffirmed its position as a prime Eid destination as visitors in large numbers thronged to witness the activities and fireworks.

Visitors were also treated to over 40 diverse events including musical and theatrical performances. It includes performances by groups from China, Syria, Morocco, Jordan, and several African countries, along with the traditional Qatari Ardha dance.

As part of Eid activities visitors also enjoyed a spectacular daily musical performance by the Police Music Band Show. Children enjoyed artistic workshops while artists shared their unique talents and creations through live paintings.

Also, the Eid Al Adha festivities at Msheireb Downtown Doha attracted many visitors. Families gathered at the popular tourist attraction in the city every day to witness lively stage performances, roaming performances, a treasure hunt, and various activities such as face painting tailored for children at Msheireb Galleria.

Souq Waqif was another major attraction during the first day of Eid as many gathered there in the evening.

Activities at shopping malls proved another huge draw for visitors of all ages. Mall of Qatar offered an ultimate Eid experience with Al Rayyan TV Kids live show, fun activities featuring arts & crafts, henna, face painting, mascots, contests and amazing prizes.

Visitors to the Doha Festival City enjoyed an exciting array of activities and special promotions to celebrate Eid Al Adha.

Spectacular shows and performances, including interactive characters' shows, theatrical performances, circus acts, and more at venues such as Virtuocity, Angry Birds World, and Snow Dunes within Doha Festival City entertained visitors. The festivities will continue until June 22 with roaming acts such as a vibrant circus parade and whimsical stilt walkers will add a touch of fun and excitement as they interact with guests throughout the venue.

A fusion of fun and excitement entertained visitors at Tawar Mall in celebration of Eid Al Adha. Art and crafts for kids, stage shows, clown balloon twisting, parades and mascot appearances attracted children.

A range of parks across the country welcomes the public from 5am until 1 am with beautiful, green spaces to relax, play, and enjoy outdoor activities. Beaches around the country were another attraction for people who tend to escape from the heat. Old Doha Port hosts performances by a maritime traditional band highlighting Qatar's rich maritime arts and cultural heritage.

The band was located at AlBandar, opposite the fish market (Chabrat Al Mina) daily starting from yesterday until June 19 from 6.30 PM until 10.30 PM. At the Old Doha Port kids enjoy the exciting carnival game booths all around Mina District daily from until June 22 from 5 pm until 10.30 pm.
