President Ilham Aliyev Proposed Dissolution Of OSCE Minsk Group And All Associated Institutions


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 14. President of theRepublic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev proposed the dissolution of theOSCE Minsk Group and all associated institutions, as he receivedOSCE Chair-in-Office, Minister for Foreign and European Affairs andTrade of Malta Ian Borg and his accompanying delegation, Trend reports.

The head of state noted that although the consequences ofArmenia's military aggression against Azerbaijan and the occupationof its lands has been on the agenda of the OSCE since itsinception, neither this organization nor the OSCE Minsk-Groupco-chairmanship mechanism had done anything to eliminate theconsequences of the conflict, liberate Azerbaijani territories fromoccupation, and ensure the return of internally displaced persons these years, the negotiation process conducted by theco-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group contributed to perpetuating theoccupation of Azerbaijani territories.

President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that Azerbaijan, through itsown determination and strength, has brought an end to theoccupation, ensuring territorial integrity and sovereignty inaccordance with international law and the UN Charter. Noting thatthe Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict is now a thing of the past, thehead of state proposed the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group andall associated institutions. The Azerbaijani leader pointed outthat Azerbaijan had raised this issue, and there appears to be noreason for Armenia to oppose it.
