Minister of Defenseof the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanovreceived a delegation led by the First Deputy Minister of Defenseof the Republic of Kazakhstan, Chief of the General Staff of theArmed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Lieutenant GeneralSultan Kamaletdinov, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan,Trend reports..
Before the meeting Kazakh delegation visited the graves of theNational Leader of Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev and prominentophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva in the Alley of Honor,as well as the Alley of Shehids (Martyrs). The guests laid wreathand flowers and honored their blessed memory.
Then, Azerbaijan Defense Ministry hosted a solemn welcomingceremony. The guest passed along the guard of honor and thenational anthems of both countries were performed. The“Book ofHonor” was signed in accordance with the protocol.
Colonel General Z. Hasanov welcomed the guests and expressed hissatisfaction with seeing them in Azerbaijan. The Minister stressedthat bilateral military cooperation between Azerbaijan andKazakhstan is based on friendly and fraternal relations and it isnecessary to expand these ties.
The delegation was informed about the reforms carried out in theAzerbaijan Army under the leadership of the President of theRepublic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the ArmedForces, Mr. Ilham Aliyev.
Lieutenant General S.Kamaletdinov, expressed his gratitude for thewarm welcome and hospitality. He emphasized the importance of suchmeetings in the development of military cooperation between the twocountries.
The sides also exchanged views on cooperation between Azerbaijanand Kazakhstan in military, military-technical,military-educational and other fields.
Then the First Deputy Minister of Defense – Chief of the GeneralStaff of the Azerbaijan Army, Colonel General Karim Valiyev metwith the Kazakh delegation.
The meeting held at the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army,discussed the current situation and prospects for the developmentof military cooperation between the two countries, as well as anumber of other issues of mutual interest.
Later, Colonel Zaur Karimov, military attaché of the Republic ofAzerbaijan to the Republic of Kazakhstan was awarded a medal "Forcontribution in the development of international cooperation"
At the end of either meetings, both parties exchanged gifts.
