Baku Metro Elaborating On Scoops Over Construction Of New Stations


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 25. The media and social networks have been spreading news about the completion of the master plan for Baku over the past few days, Trend reports.

The media and social networks also noted that the plan envisions the construction of up to 50 km of tram lines in Baku and an increase in the number of metro stations to 47.

Commenting on the issue, Baku Metro CJSC Spokesperson Bakhtiyar Mammadov said that according to the conceptual development scheme of the CJSC, the metro is planned to consist of five lines (currently three lines) and 76 stations (currently 27 stations).

"Approximately 49–50 stations are planned to be built. Not all of them need to be constructed immediately. In this matter, we are primarily guided by the General Plan of Baku because it's impossible to plan the development of the metro without taking into account the city's main development directions," he pointed out.

"The focus is on the separation of the green and red lines, which is the first task in the General Plan of Baku. The creation of a circular line and the development of the under-construction Purple Line are of great importance in terms of more convenient transportation management," he added.
