Iraq Stresses Neutral Stance On Russian-Ukraine War


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BAGHDAD, Aug 9 (KUNA) -- Iraq's Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein affirmed Wednesday his country's unbiased position toward the Russian-Ukraine war.
This came during a video-conference between Hussein and Ukraine's Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko, Iraq's Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Iraq's impartial stance is consistent with the country's constitution which calls for the respect of international law and the UN charter, and backing to purposeful endeavors to end war and encourage mediation efforts so as to reach a solution and restore stability, the statement noted.
The two sides, meanwhile, discussed bilateral ties and means of enhancing economic cooperation as well as the follow-up of the Iraq-Ukrainian joint committee action, in addition to the Arab liaison group on the Russian-Ukrainian issue, it indicated. (end)
