Italian cheesemaker murdered by 15,000 cheese wheels


(MENAFN) An Italian cheesemaker has been discovered deceased after at least 15,000 wheels of cheese fallen down from their shelves in his firm`s warehouse, Italian press sources stated on Monday. The 74-year-old man had gotten numerous prizes for his harvest.

The calamity happened in a warehouse at Giacomo Chiapparini’s dairy plant in Romano di Lombardia, close to Bergamo, Italian newspaper stated.

Chiapparini was allegedly inside the warehouse fixing an engine on Sunday evening when a steel shelving piece fell down, causing a chain reaction result and knocking down the other nine columns.

Chiapparini’s lad as well as some of his workers were warned by the sound of the downfall and hurried to the warehouse, where they found that at least 15,000 wheels of cheese had come crashing to the floor.

Each wheel weighed nearly 40KG (88LBS), and saviors operated through the night to replace them by hand, firefighter Antonio Dusi informed a news agency.
