Five Civilians Killed By Rsf Shelling In Sudan
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KHARTOUM, Aug 7 (KUNA) - At least five people were killed and several others were injured in the fierce battles that broke out Monday between the Sudanese armed forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum.
In a statement, the Omdurman Old Neighborhoods Emergency Room said that the Rapid Support Forces randomly bombed the old city of Omdurman, killing five people in the Al-Sharafiya neighborhood.
The emergency room confirmed that the indiscriminate shelling of the RSF came against the background of the advance of the army forces from several axes in Omdurman.
The shelling resulted in the death of a woman and four children, it indicated.
Eyewitnesses told KUNA that the SAF began advancing towards the old neighborhoods of the city of Omdurman under the cover of artillery and air strikes, while the RSF responded with counter-bombing, causing severe damage to a number of houses.
Meanwhile, the army announced that its forces clashed with the RSF in several sites in the capital, and inflicted many losses on them.
Since the outbreak of the conflict on April 15, more than 3,000 people, mainly civilians have been killed and 6,000 others injured, in addition to three million refugees and internally displaced people. (end)
