MADRID, July 30 (KUNA) -- In the deep Spanish Brihuega town, there lays a chain of underground corridors named (Arabic Caves), or as called (Cuevas Arabes) in the Spanish language, a landmark that attracts thousands of tourists.
The total length of these undergrounds, located in the Guadalajara province, is nine kilometers of which visitors can enjoy walking a distance of 700 meters only in a cave that belongs to private property.
Arabs built the tunnels that lay underneath the whole city, between the 10th and 11th centuries to protect the city during wars, as well as use them as food, oil, and water storage, where its temperature did not exceed 12 degrees all year long.
The (Cuevas Arabes) were used during the Spanish Civil War (1936- 1939). (end) hnd.nhq
