Uk Supports Positive Future For All Afghans: Dickson


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KABUL (Pajhwok): The United Kingdom (UK) and the acting Afghan government have agreed over practical measures which could help the people of Afghanistan and improve health and education for all, according to a statement on Thursday.

UK Chargé d'Affaires for Afghanistan Robert Chatterton Dickson, and Deputy Head of Mission, Nasira Ashraf, recently made a diplomatic visit to Kabul.

In a statement the UK mission in Kabul said during the trip meetings with senior Taliban leadership including interim Prime Minister Kabir and Interim Minister of Foreign Affairs Muttaqi were held.

Dickson was quoted as saying:“My visit demonstrated the UK's commitment to a positive future for Afghanistan. We will continue to press for Afghan women and girls to be able to reach their full potential, and work with everyone, including the Taliban, to help deliver a secure and prosperous Afghanistan”

He added:“We agreed that there are practical measures we can take together to help the Afghan people, including in improving health and education for all.”

According to Dickson Over 28m Afghans are in need of humanitarian assistance and the economic situation looked bleak, the UK support for Afghanistan totaled over $650m in humanitarian assistance since August 2021.
