2 TTP Masterminds Behind Pakistan's Karachi Police Office Attack Killed

(MENAFN- Khaama Press) Counter-terrorism agents killed two masterminds connected to the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan organization who planned the audacious attack on Karachi Police Office in February, according to Tuesday's media sources.

On Sunday night, Pakistan's Counter Terrorism Directorate (CTD) was informed that TTP fighters would arrive in Karachi.

On Monday morning, CTD officers asked the four militants to stop after they arrived on two motorcycles. Instead, they started firing, and in the exchange gunfire, two of them were killed, and the other two were captured, according to the Dawn Newspaper.

The militants killed were identified as Aryadullah alias Hasan and Waheedullah alias Khalid alias Huzaifa.

“Both killed militants were masterminds of the Karachi Police Office attack,” Sindh's information minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said.

In February, the attack on Police Chief Office in Karachi was attacked by TTP militants who killed three members of the group and four others, including two police constables.

In recent months in Pakistan, police officers and government officials have been frequently attacked by Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and several Baluchistan separatist groups.

Security is deteriorating in Pakistan amid the economic crisis, which has been a great concern for the Pakistani authorities.

On January 30, a suicide bombing at a mosque in northwestern Peshawar city, killing over 100 people earlier this month, is considered the deadliest in the country.

Since last November, after the break of the unilateral ceasefire, the TTP groups and other militants intensified their attacks aiming at law enforcement officers, government agencies, foreign nations and people.

However, The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), federal intelligence agencies, and other LEAs formed a joint special team in order to eliminate the network responsible for the Karachi Police Office (KPO) attack, according to Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon.

The minister stated,“This network had given assistance, planning, and reconnaissance to the KPO terrorists.
