Ukraine will replace its military minister following corruption allegations

(MENAFN) Prior to an anticipated Russian attack and in the wake of corruption scandals, the chief of military intelligence will replace Ukraine's defense minister, a prominent legislator announced on Sunday.

In reference to the 37-year-old director of the military intelligence, prominent politician David Arakhamia stated, "Kyrylo Budanov will lead the defense ministry, which is totally natural in times of conflict."

The member stated Reznikov, 56, will be named minister for strategic industries but did not give a time frame for the anticipated reorganization.

Arakhamia stated that personnel policies are determined by war.

"Reinforcement and regrouping are necessary due to time and circumstances. This is now taking place and will do so in the future, he stressed. “The enemy is preparing to advance. We are preparing to defend ourselves.”

Reznikov, one of the most recognizable representatives of Ukraine's war effort, was named defense minister in November 2021 and has contributed to the acquisition of Western weaponry to support Ukrainian soldiers.

But there have been several corruption scandals in his cabinet.
