DI, French University Sciences Po Sign Mou On Student Exchange

Doha: The Doha Institute for graduate Studies signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and an agreement for exchange of students and teaching staff with the French University Sciences Po.

The MoU ensures commitment from the two parties to cooperate in all academic fields to achieve common goals in the production and dissemination of science, and to improve the educational environment for their students. As for the agreement, it added practical steps on student exchange mechanisms, involving professors from the two universities in the teaching process, and discussing joint research projects.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Mathias Vicherat, President of Sciences Po, on behalf of Sciences Po University and Dr. Abdelwahab El Affendi, President and Provost of the DI, on behalf of the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies.

Sciences Po delegate have come to Doha particularly to sign the MoU, and Dr. Vicherat, as head of the delegate, stated that this agreement is the first of its kind that the university signs with a counterpart institution. He talked about the commonality of interest in excellence in social sciences and worldview between both parties. In addition to the various fields of collaboration that both institutions will work hard to invest in.

Dr. El Affendi expressed the Institute's pleasure in signing these agreements with a university considered as the most prominent in France in the field of social sciences. He explained that the consultations on this agreement began in Paris last May in a meeting between Dr. Vicherat and Dr. Azmi Bishara, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the DI, and Dr. El Affendi.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the DI, and the Vice President of International Relations at Sciences Po, Dr Vanessa Scherrer, H E Jean-Baptiste Faivre, Ambassador of the French Republic to the State of Qatar. Executive Director of the Administrative and Financial Sector the Deans from DI, and members from the French Embassy also attended.

It is worth noting that the French Embassy in Doha organised a celebration at the Ambassador's residence marking the 150th anniversary for Sciences Po University. the ceremony was attended by a group of academics, diplomats, and Qatari graduates of Sciences Po.
