Iran rejects drones supply to Russia

(MENAFN) The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry has again refused in the strongest terms Western states that Iran has sent arms and drones to Russia to use against Ukraine, saying that Tehran and Moscow have old defense relations and that Tehran wants a strong remedy to the war through discussion and diplomacy.

Nasser Kanaani noted on Iran's position on the current Russian conflict in Ukraine in an interview with the Croatian daily newspaper Veernji list shared on Tuesday.

In the interview, Kanaani said that Iran "strongly opposes violence and the arming of any side in the Ukrainian crisis."

He also declared, “We have asked the Ukrainian authorities to produce any supporting document about the deployment of Iranian drones in the conflict in Ukraine. Iran and Russia have long-standing defense cooperation, but we opposed the invasion of Ukraine.”

The official stressed that the Islamic Republic was attempting to stop the war in Ukraine by facilitating discussions between the warring groups.
