German industry employees prepare for protests

(MENAFN) Germany's metal and electrical industry staffs are going to launch the initial phase of warning protests on Saturday, a labor president declared.

The proposal filed by workers on Thursday in the collective-rate phase for 3.9 million workers does not reply to the labor union's requests, according to Joerg Hofmann, the head of the IG Metal labor union, in a meeting with the Handelsblatt business newspaper.

Following the collective negotiating clash, IG Metal are going to arrange the initial cautioning protests on Saturday night.

In local discussions on Thursday and Friday, the workers had proposed one-time tax-free payments of 3,000 euros on top of an unnamed surge in the income tables for a time span of 30 months as well.

Nonetheless, the labor union is requesting an 8 percent salary raise for a time span of a year-- the biggest request in the sector in 14 years (2008).

Hofmann urged employers to propose maintainable wage rises, also stating that "It is still unclear how the salaries of the employees are to be increased in the long term."
