Four Cops Granted Bail Over Rambukkana Shooting Incident

Four policemen have been granted bail by the Kegalle High Court over the Rambukkana shooting incident.
Former Kegalle SSP K.B. Keerthiratna and three other policemen who were remanded over the Rambukkana shooting incident, were granted bail today.
The Police opened fire on a group of protesters in Rambukkana last April killing one person and injuring a number of others.
Police Spokesman, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nihal Thalduwa had said that the Police had opened fire when the protesters had allegedly attempted to set fire to a fuel truck.
An individual, Chaminda Lakshan, was killed in the shooting incident while 24 others sustained injuries.
The Police media unit said that a number of policemen were also injured in the incident.
The Police Special Task Force (STF) was later deployed to the area to try and control the situation. (Colombo Gazette)
