GCO Highlights Most Notable Cabinet Decisions

Doha: The official spokesman of the government Communications Office (GCO) Dr. Mohammed Nuwaymi Al Hajri has said that the constant directives and the persistent follow-up to support the Office's strenuous efforts in recruiting the national cadres comes within the state's broader efforts to enhance the citizen's contribution in all development projects in Qatar. 

Al Hajri reviewed the most prominent outcomes of the cabinet meeting held under the Chairmanship of Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H E sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, pointing out to the cabinet's review of the Ministry of Public Health's report on the latest developments related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The cabinet decided to amend its decision issued in its ordinary meeting (19) of 2022 held on 18/05/2022 to make it mandatory for citizens, residents, and visitors to wear masks in indoor public places. 

He also referred to the Cabinet's acknowledgment of the results of the official visit of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt, as well as the participation of H H the Amir in the opening session of the 26th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in the Rwandan capital Kigali, in addition to His Highness' attendance of the opening ceremony of the 19th Mediterranean Games 2022 in Oran, Algeria.
During the press conference, the Official Spokesman also tackled economic developments in the state of Qatar, including the trusted international partnerships the country enjoys. He pointing out to the Cabinet's praise of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani's speech at the Qatar Economic Forum 2022, and His Highness' vision, which has unequivocally determined the causes of the difficulties and challenges currently facing the global economy, and ways to overcome them. Dr. Al Hajri also pointed to the cabinet's satisfaction with the State of Qatar's leading of the Middle East and North Africa region in the Global Peace Index and occupying an advanced position internationally, emphasizing that this accomplishment is a result of accurate and high-quality efforts undertaken by multiple institutions across the country that puts people as the top priority.

He also touched upon the draft Amiri decisions regarding the organizational structures of the ministries, which he confirmed come to build on the structural development of government institutions based on the highest standards of efficiency, profitability and good governance. 

He also highlighted the cabinet's approval of the establishment of a National Commission for Qualifications and Academic Accreditation that includes a host of experts and professionals, with the objective of enhancing the quality of higher education outcomes. 

He stressed that the step would prove to be a significant one in promoting higher education in line with the highest global standards.

Dr. Al Hajri also shed light on the cabinet's approval of the cloud computing policy framework document which combines comprehensive, ambitious, and strategic dimensions in addition to further enhancing Qatar's quest to remain a global digital hub supporting national economic growth and digital transformation.
