Salah strengthens his contract with Liverpool, ends rumors of his departure

(MENAFN) Mohamed Salah, a star for Liverpool, has extended his contract, putting an end to rumors that he may leave the club for free the next season.

In a Friday declaration, Liverpool stated "Liverpool FC are delighted to announce Mohamed Salah has signed a new long-term contract with the club."

Salah became an essential member of the Reds in 2017 after moving from Roma to the English Premier League team. His astounding 156 goals in 254 games helped the Reds win the league. Moreover, in 2017 and this year, Salah twice took home the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Player of the Year title. Two years ago, he guided the Reds to their first league championship in three decades.

With the Reds, the 30-year-old attacker also won the FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Champions League, and FA Cup. On the other hand, Salah commented on his contract extension: "I feel great and [I am] excited to win trophies with the club. It’s a happy day for everyone."

He also mentioned that "it takes a little bit of time, I think, to renew, but now everything is done so we just need to focus on what’s next."
