“Dawn & Sublimation“Recital - Soul cleansing, Life Sublimation

Singapore - May 24, 2022 —

As part of his World Concert Tour, German, China-born pianist Haiou Zhang will be visiting Singapore for his first piano recital after the pandemic to present two most compelling compositions Piano Sonata by the legendary German composer L.V. Beethoven (1770 - 1827).

Zhang's one-night concert where he not only performs the two captivating compositions in Beethoven 32 piano sonatas, but also Bach's two transcriptions of the most beautiful melodies – a path into a realm of serenity. Adding on to the night's highlights, Haiou Zhang will inaugurate the new grand piano, C. Bechstein D282 concert grand (specially flown in from Berlin), the king of all C. Bechstein grand pianos.“I always need an extremely wide range – colorings, emotions and possibilities and the D282 goes over my expectations” says Haiou Zhang, noting the difficulty to find the one instrument that“has a little bit more to tell on stage”.

The sold-out concert is the first ever piano solo recital since the pandemic by an international visiting pianist to be held at the Singapore Conference Hall of over 834-seats, promised to be the musical oasis in the CBD for a most immersive musical experience.

Presented by Bechstein Music World, the recital is dedicated to the Singapore community who have braved throug h the ups and downs during the pandemic with specially designed programs (please click the link for program note ) which aim to cleanse the souls and bring about life sublimation after immersing in the recital.

From Beethoven came the special drama and brilliance of the Waldstein Sonata, and transcendent spirituality in the fragile and sublime colours of his final sonatas. They contrast profoundly with the quiet reverence and sense of renewal in two transcriptions of Bach's most beautiful melodies with sheer elegance.

First-class soloist Haiou Zhang's piano recital depicts the total mastery of intrinsic piano performance and communicating with music, a beautiful showcase and combination of three elements; authenticity, emotions, and elegance you will find at this classical piano music concert.

Engaging yet somewhat serious, Zhang's playing draws the audience into the dream-like narrative tinged with melancholy. Watching his live piano performance with spontaneous notes; from his fingers flying over the keys, brought a palpable sense of relief, joy, and optimism for music lovers in a post-pandemic era.

The audience members were beyond awestruck by the virtuoso pianist, including young children from 8 years to teens with stillness and silence, rarely you find... as his compelling piano recital seems to envelop the heart and soul of our multiracial audience in Singapore.

Without a doubt, the audience members were completely present. The crowd thoroughly enjoyed the performance with two amazing encores and was met with astounding applause.

'...Perhaps the most poignant thing I can say about the playing of Haiou Zhang is that you feel that every note comes straight from the heart' - Radio Deejay; SPH Radio 96.3FM and Producer-Director, Garrick Will Wong.

The 38-year-old pianist Haiou Zhang has performed tens of thousands of recitals internationally - Germany, Italy, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Netherland, Austria, Estonia, Russia, America, Canada, China and many more.
