QU Graduates 144 Non-Native Speakers From Arabic Language Center

Doha: The Centre for the Arabic Language for Non-Native Speakers at Qatar University (QU), with the support of the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), recently celebrated the graduation of its students from over 50 nationalities. 

The ceremony witnessed the graduation of 144 students, including 52 from developing countries, through the Qatar Scholarships Program sponsored and funded by the QFFD.

The graduation ceremony was attended by Dr. Omar Al Ansari, Vice-President for Academic Affairs; Ali Al Dabbagh, Deputy Director-General for Planning, QFFD; Dr. Ahmed Al Zahari, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; Dr. Abdulaziz Muhammad Al Mutawa, Assistant Dean for the Languages, Media and Translation Sector, and Dr. Abdullah Abdul Rahman, Director of the Centre for the Arabic Language for Non-Native Speakers, the Assistant Deans of the College of Arts and Sciences, and a group of faculty members, in addition to the graduates and students of the centre.

Dr. Rahman expressed his happiness and congratulated the students by wishing them a prosperous future on their journey in the Arabic language. 

He said that due to the centre's excellent reputation, various cultural partnership agreements had been signed with multiple universities, in addition to about 30 agreements signed during the past five years. 

“Through a clear five-year plan, the centre will expand due to the significant increase in applicants. Al Sabahi will have 200 students next year, and this number will increase by 20% over the next five years,” he added.

At the end of the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al Zahari, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, distributed certificates to the graduates, along with Dr. Abdul Aziz Muhammad Al Mutawa, Assistant Dean for the Languages, Media and Translation Sector, and Dr. Abdullah Abdul Rahman, Director of the centre.
