QNL Opens First 'Libraries Lead' Forum To Advance UN 2030 Agenda

Doha: Qatar National Library (QNL) held the first day of the 'Libraries Lead' forum yesterday. 

The two-day forum has brought together library professionals to foster initiatives to advance the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030 Agenda. Minister of State and QNL President H E Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kawari opened the forum with a welcome speech followed by opening sessions and a panel discussion with key speakers. 

They included Tan Huism, Executive Director QNL; Barbara Lison, President of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA); Dr. Jamal Al Yafei, Assistant Director of Strategic Planning, Planning and Statistics Authority, Qatar; Dr. Imad Bachir, IFLA Chair of MENA Regional Division; Dr. Clara Chu, Director of the Mortenson Center for International Library Programs; and Farida Aboudan, Program Specialist of the Unesco Office for the Gulf Countries and Yemen. 

Additional sessions will be held on the second day of the forum to discuss several topics with representatives from local and international entities advocating SDGs.
