EU to provide Kyrgyzstan with EUR 32 mln grant for education reforms

The EU and Kyrgyzstan discussed the conclusion of a new grant contract, under which the republic will be allocated EUR 32 million for reforms in the education sector, Trend reports with reference to Kabar .

Minister of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Beishenaliev met on Wednesday with Head of the European Union Delegation in the Kyrgyz Republic Eduard Auer, the press service of the Education Ministry reported.

At the meeting, Beishenaliev and Auer discussed joint initiatives of the Kyrgyz Republic and the EU in the field of education.

In particular, they noted the successful completion of the Financial Agreement, under which the Kyrgyz Republic received grant assistance from the Union in the amount of EUR 35.76 million. These funds were used to support the budget of the republic.

The minister and the EU representative also discussed the details of a new grant contract between Kyrgyzstan and the European Union for the reform of the education sector. Under this contract for 2023-2027, the EU will provide a grant to the republic in the amount of EUR 32.0 million, which will also be used to support the budget of the country.
