The Mexican Interior Ministry said, in a statement, that border police units stopped about 190,000 attempts of illegal immigration to the United States during the period between January and September of this year, adding that the majority of immigrants come from Venezuela, Ecuador and Brazil.

The Ministry highlighted that despite the strict restrictions at the Mexican-American border and the tightening of entry measures to Mexico, attempts to immigrate to the United States increased by threefold compared to the same period last year,

noting that about 75,000 people were deported after proving that they were involved in criminal networks for human trafficking and migration in their countries.

The Ministry also recorded an increase of 1000 percent in illegal immigrants from Venezuela between January and October after the arrest of 2,228 people, which is the highest rate of irregular immigrants from a country outside Central America and the Caribbean. Furthermore, more than 38,000 Brazilians tried to cross Illegal to the US between last April and August.

It is noteworthy that the Mexican Ministry of Interior had recently announced imposing entry visas to the country on citizens of Venezuela, Brazil and Ecuador after recording record levels of illegal immigration attempts to the United States.
