S. Korean money supply maintains growth during July

(MENAFN) On Tuesday, Sep. 14 central bank figures demonstrated that the South Korean money supply maintained expansion during July amidst a robust loan demand, attributable to the all-time policy rate.

The Bank of Korea (BOK) said that the M2, or broad money, reached 3,443.9 trillion won (USD2.94 trillion) during July, a rise by 11.4 percent from a year ago.

The money supply kept rising as the BOK preserved its benchmark interest rate unmoved at a record low of 0.50 percent in July.

The central bank increased the key rate by 25 basis points reaching 0.75 percent in late last month.
