Doha: Qatar national basketball team will resume their quest to qualify for the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 when they take on Syria at Al Gharafa Sports Club today.

The Group E fixture, Qatar's third match in the qualifying tournament, tips off at 7.00pm.

Under the guidance of new head coach Miodrag Perisic, Qatar will be looking to get to winning ways in today's match, before taking on Saudi Arabia at the same venue on Monday.

Assistant to the Serbian head coach and a former Qatar basketball legend, Hachim Zaidan had said that the team completed 44 practice sessions, while strictly following the health protocol ahead of the encounters.

Qatar had lost both of their Group E matches going down to Saudi Arabia 57-68 and Olympic-bound Iran 52-95.

With four more matches to go in the Group stage, Qatar are currently placed at the bottom of the table with 2 points.

In other games which will take place in Doha today, Asia's No.1 side Iran will take on Saudi Arabia at Al Gharafa Indoor hall.

Last month, Doha was confirmed as one of the three cities which will host the qualifiers during the November window, along with Manama (Bahrain) and Amman (Jordan).

Apart from the Group E fixtures, Doha will also host games in Group B which include China, Japan, Chinese Taipei, and Malaysia.

Following the November window, qualifiers will be heading for a three-month pause before returning on February 18 next year.
