178,914 COVID-19 cases reported in Peru


(MENAFN) According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Peruvian Health Ministry, the combined tally of patients who have tested positive for the novel coronavirus since the country was first hit by the pandemic has reached 178,914 within the last 24 hours, while in the meantime, a total record of 4,894 patients have succumbed to the deadly infection.

As many as 998 patients among the 10,101 record of COVID-19 cases who have been treated in local Peruvian hospitals, are now being treated in the Intensive Care Units and on breathing apparatus, the ministry stated in a regulated press release.

Peru has extended its lockdown to June 30 to contain the spread of the pandemic, as it ranked the second among the Latin American nations' highest record of positive COVID-19 cases.
