37 percent increase in Bangladesh FDI

Central bank data showed on Monday that the foreign direct investment (FDI) in Bangladesh increased 37 percent equal to more than USD1 billion in the fiscal year July 2018 to June 2019, in comparison with the same period of the previous 2017-2018 year.

Data from the Bangladesh Bank showed that gross FDI inflows stood at USD4, 550 million in the last fiscal year versus USD3, 290 million in the same period a year earlier.

BB statistics showed that the net FDI inflow in the country since last July to June this year accumulated USD2,540 million against USD1,778 million in the same period a year earlier.

FDI inflow into Bangladesh stood at a total of USD3.6 billion in 2018, increasing 68 percent since the past year on the back of sizable Chinese investments.
