The British Council has brought Al Raneem Private School Muscat on board as an official "IELTS Registration Centre for the British Council", meeting a growing demand for the world's most popular high-stakes English language test and aiming at facilitating the test conditions to all English learners who live near Al Amerat area. This partnership demonstrates an increased recognition of the role of English language to empower young people to compete in a globalised workforce.
Al Raneem Private School is one of the renowned Private school in the Sultanate of Oman with the state of art facilities and services located in Al Amerat – Muscat and it was established in 1986 and has a long time relationship with British Council, since 2012 as the first Cambridge associated school in Oman. The RPS is the first Smart school in Oman with the induction of eBooks, iPads and eLibrary for secondary and higher secondary grades in school.
The agreement was signed at Muscat at Al Raneem Private School on 24 June 2019. The event was attended by Helen Mehta – Country Director and Deep Adhikari – Director Examinations Gulf South Cluster from British Council, Mr. Karim Baksh Al Balushi – CEO and Chairman of Al Raneem Private school, Mr. Najm bin Abdullah Al Shidi – school principal.
According to the British Council, English language proficiency is an essential skill for navigating a global workforce and breaking down barriers in business and empowering the pool of Omani talent.
'Our partnership with Al Raneem Private School will mean that the school will be able to serve that community and the students not only of this school but around Al-Amerat area without the students have to go to British Council to register.
Students will feel more comfortable in the environment that they are familiar with and this is something that British Council encourages. This is the first partnership with a school as a registered centre for IELTS in Oman.' British Council Director said.
