(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KABUL (Pajhwok): The provincial hospital and some otherhealth facilities have been closed over the past three days afterTaliban militants threatened Swedish Committee employees not to work in central Maida Wardak province.
The Taliban threat comes after a security forces raid on a Swedish Committee run clinic in Daimirdad district a few days back.
On July 9, two doctors and as many staff members of the hospital were killed during the security forces operation, officials and residents had claimed.
However, the same day, a government official told Pajhwok Afghan News that six Taliban militants had also been killed in the operation and two others, including a doctor, were detained.
Sharifullah Hotak, a member of the provincial council, told Pajhwok that after the security forces' attack, the Taliban threatened some provincial hospital workers not to attend their job.
Hotak said, 'The hospital has been closed for the past three days and doctors are not attending their job. The doctors say some unknown figures told them not to attend their job.'
Hotak said a large number of patients were in trouble due to the situation and urged the government to pay strong attention to civilians' lives during nighttime raids.
Provincial Public Health Director Dr. Mohammad Saalam Asgharkhel said the provincial hospital and other hospitals were not totally closed.
He said after the security forces operation in Tangai Saidan area of the district, Taliban militants threatened Swedish Committee employees not to their duty.
On the other hand, the Taliban also confirmed they had banned some doctors from attending their job.
The group spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the Swedish Committee did not react to the US nighttime raid on its hospital. He said it was the Swedish Committee responsibility to raise its voice in this regard.
