(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat -

The Omani and French administrations held a meeting last week to coordinate on satellite communication.

The meeting was held at the headquarters of L'Agence nationale des fréquences (ANFR) in France. The meeting was chaired by Eng Yousef bin Abdullah al Balushi, deputy CEO for spectrum management affairs at the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA). In the meeting, Eng Balushi said, 'We highly appreciate the friendly French administration's response to the Omani requirements on this matter.

'The results of the meeting were very positive and will be discussed further at the bilateral meeting proposed to be held in the sultanate before the end of this year.'

The regulations issued by the International Telecommunication Union require coordination with all countries that may fall within the coverage of Omani satellites as well as companies that have satellites close to the orbits required by the sultanate.

A satellite communications technology company was also recently established to meet Oman's satellite communications needs.
