Czech PM affirms support for Romania's accession to Schengen area

(MENAFN) Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis has met his Romanian counterpart Viorica Dancila, confirming his support for Romania's accession to the Schengen area.

The ministers also discussed current European issues including Brexit, migration, and European budget.

Babis appreciated Romania's presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU) and stressed that this is a hard mission, given the approaching European Parliament elections, the deterioration of the EU's trade relations with the United States, and the departure of the UK from the Union.

Romania is the Czech Republic's largest trading partner in southeastern Europe, while Czech companies also invest in Romania, including in the field of renewable energy.
