Turkey decries New Zealand twin mosque attacks


(MENAFN) Turkey strongly denounced twin shooting attacks which struck mosque in New Zealand's Christchurch on Friday, leaving at least 49 deaths.

"I strongly condemn the terror attack against the Al Noor Mosque in #NewZealand and Muslim worshippers," Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed.

In a tweet, the Turkish president extended condolences to the families of the victims, wishing God's mercy and hoping a speedy recovery for the injured.

He added "on behalf of my country, I offer my condolences to the Islamic world and the people of New Zealand, who have been targeted by this deplorable act - the latest example of rising racism and Islamophobia."
