Joint Turkish-Russian Monitoring Center In Azerbaijan's Aghdam Stops Its Activity


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 26. The activity of theTurkish-Russian Joint Monitoring Center in Azerbaijan's Aghdam hasbeen stopped, Trend reports.

On this occasion, a solemn ceremony organized by the Ministry ofDefense of Azerbaijan is being held at the center.

In this regard, a media tour was organized for a group of mediarepresentatives.

To note, the joint monitoring center was established on January30, 2021, in order to monitor the ceasefire in Azerbaijan'sKarabakh and prevent violations in accordance with the memorandumsigned between Türkiye and Russia.

As a result of local anti-terror measures carried out by theAzerbaijani Armed Forces in Karabakh on September 19–20, 2023,Azerbaijan restored its sovereignty throughout the country. Sincethe Russian peacekeeping contingent began to leave the Karabakhregion a few days ago, the need for the activities of this centerhas disappeared.

Additionally, on April 18, the Turkish Ministry of NationalDefense announced the cessation of the center's activity.
