(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) is to submit a set of recommendations on the Agunukolapelessa prison incident.
HRCSL said that it had launched an inquiry over the incident.
A leaked video had revealed an incident at the Agunukolapelessa prison where several inmates had been lined up and assaulted by prison guards.
The Committee for Protecting Prisoners' Rights released the video at a media conference last week.
The Committee for Protecting Prisoners' Rights said that the assault had taken place following a protest staged by the inmates.
The date stamp on the CCTV video shows as November 11, 2018.
