Iraq's president urges disputes prevention for terrorism eradication

(MENAFN) Clashes within the region need to be prevented for terrorism to be wiped out, emphasized Iraq's President Barham Saleh on Wednesday.

The statement was made by the Iraqi president while speaking to Yazidi human rights activist Nadia Murad in Baghdad at al-Salam palace.

The human rights activist was granted last Friday the Nobel Peace Prize 2018.

During the meeting, the president made a vow to "personally follow up the case of Yazidi women taken captive by Islamic State."

Saleh also "stressed the need for ending regional conflicts, which nurture extremism and give the terrorist groups a chance to emerge."
