Kuwaiti traditional pearl diving event hailed by minister on 30th outing

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Nov 7 (KUNA) -- Already in its 30th voyage, Information Minister and State Minister for Youth Mohammad Al-Jabri paid homage to the support extended by the leadership for the annual Kuwaiti traditional pearl diving expedition.
The minister handed out awards to the participating divers on behalf of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's representative, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad.
He described the event as having gained domestic and regional significance throughout its three-decade duration.
Some 229 men, hailing from Kuwait and the neighbouring Gulf Kingdom of Bahrain, onboard 13 dhow vessels returned to land from sea in July, this year.
The annual event is organised by Kuwait Sea Club in an aim to revive Kuwait's pre-oil discovery roots. (end) fr.sd
