DUBAI, 7th November, 2018 (WAM) -- Global trade enabler DP World's UAE Region is hosting a multidiscipline inter-company sports competition as part of its month-long line up of activities for the Dubai Fitness Challenge, DFC, from 26th October to 24th November.
Over 1,000 participants from 44 companies have already registered for the DP World Sports Championship, which includes a variety of team and individual sports such as football, cricket, basketball, badminton and chess. The purpose is to encourage the spirit of teamwork and fair play, while enabling the mission of the Dubai Fitness Challenge to promote healthy living and personal well-being.
The company has also rolled out a campaign to raise health and fitness levels among DP World, UAE Region employees during this month-long programme. The activities being offered include step challenges, yoga and Zumba classes, a walkathon and bicycling challenge, fitness assessments and prizes for the best performing employees.
Mohammed Al Muallem, CEO and Managing Director, DP World, UAE Region, said, "The Dubai Fitness Challenge is all about motivating and involving Dubai's residents to commit at least 30 minutes of continuous exercise a day for 30 days. It's simple, healthy and good for our people."

DP World is also running a DP World Champion Programme that encourages participants to step up their activities and compete for the best performer's title. All participants will be put through fitness and assessment tests before and after the 30-day challenge and will be advised on how regular exercise can transform the body.
DP World also organises and supports sporting activities throughout the year, which include corporate dragon boat racing, football and cricket teams and matches, annual wellness days and family days for employees and their families.
