Philippines: over 15 die, 50 missing in mass landslide

(MENAFN) Authorities declared that over 15 people have been killed as more than 50 more were uncounted for when a landslide sparked by heavy downpours left many houses under rubble in Naga City in the central Philippine Cebu province.

Authorities added that the landslide took place soon before 6 a.m. and buried many homes in the villages of Naalad and Tinaan.

They confirmed that dozens others are suspected to have been buried under mud.

"Every now and then you can feel the ground vibrate. Our main concern is search and rescue. We would like to concentrate on saving as many as we can," according to Naga City councillor Carmelino Cruz.
