More than 1,000 jobs offered to Filipinos in Japan

(MENAFN- Asia Times) The Department of Labor and Employment in Manila has announced there are more than 1,000 jobs available in Japan for Filipinos repatriated from Kuwait.

Labor secretary Silvestre Bello III said a group of Japanese businessmen have offered to hire 1,000 repatriated Filipinos for their flight catering business, the Business Mirror reported.

'They are offering a salary of US$800, which is twice the salary of what the repatriated Filipinos received in Kuwait,' Bello said. He urged the Filipinos, who are mostly domestic workers, to undergo the necessary training to get the skills to qualify for the jobs.

Guiling A. Mamodiong, the director general of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), said there will be a two-day special session called the National Technical and Vocational Education and Training from April 5 to 6.

'They can apply for the jobs that will be offered by our partner companies and industries in the job fair and they could also register in our technical-vocational courses for free skills training or upgrade their skills,' Mamodiong said.
