Axpo Nordic Expands Renewable Energy Portfolio With Finnish Wind Power Agreement


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 22. Axpo Nordic, a leading energy company in the Nordic and Baltic regions, has announced the signing of a corporate power purchase agreement (PPA) with Exilion Tuuli Ky, a Finnish renewable energy investor and producer, Trend reports via Axpo.

This long-term agreement marks a significant milestone, covering the supply of 70 GWh of renewable electricity annually from a wind farm in northern Finland.

Starting in 2025 and extending over 12 years, Axpo will purchase 22.1 megawatts (MW) of clean electricity from the Ii Isokangas wind park, which is owned by Exilion Tuuli Ky. This marks the first collaboration between the two parties.

The wind park, located in the municipality of Ii, features five turbines. The electricity generated will be sold by Axpo to Colgate-Palmolive, supporting the company's renewable energy requirements.

Axpo Nordic is a subsidiary of the Axpo Group, a leading international energy provider headquartered in Switzerland. The company has a strong presence in the Nordic and Baltic energy markets, focusing on electricity trading, renewable energy solutions, and energy-related services. Axpo has been a pioneer in power purchase agreements (PPAs) in the Nordics, having secured its first agreement almost 20 years ago. Currently, Axpo Nordic manages 24 TWh of renewable power from wind and solar and oversees 3.5 GW of renewable capacity annually in the region.
