Uzbekistan, Germany Discuss Resumption Of Lufthansa Flights

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 6. The Minister
of transport of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Makhkamov expressed hope for the
speedy restoration of flights of German airline Lufthansa to
Uzbekistan, Trend
reports.
According to information, this issue was discussed during the
meeting of Uzbek Transport Minister Ilkhom Makhkamov with newly
appointed German Ambassador Manfred Huterer.
The sides discussed achievements and promising plans for the
future as a result of effective cooperation established between the
two states during the meeting.
In particular, the Minister noted a wide range of current
cooperation with German transportation companies Rhenus, Deutsche
Bahn, DB Engineering & Consulting, DB Schenker, and others.
Also, the participants of the meeting exchanged views on several
issues related to the development of cooperation in the field of
transport and logistics.
To note, German airline Lufthansa entered the market of
Uzbekistan in 1993. At that time, the airline began operating the
flight“Frankfurt - Tashkent - Frankfurt”. However, due to a 20-25
percent decrease in passenger traffic, flights to Tashkent were
stopped in 2001.
