(MENAFN) Saudi Arabia has announced its plans to extend a compassionate gesture towards Palestinian families affected by the conflict in Gaza by hosting an additional 1,000 family members for the Hajj pilgrimage, as reported by local media on Sunday. This initiative, spearheaded by the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs, comes under the directive of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and falls within the framework of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Guests Program, according to a Saudi news agency.
Under this program, the Saudi government will oversee all logistical arrangements, ensuring the smooth transition of the pilgrims from their arrival in Saudi Arabia to their return to Palestine. This endeavor seeks to provide solace and support to families grappling with the loss or injury of loved ones amid the ongoing strife in Gaza.
This latest directive from King Salman follows a similar one issued in May, which saw 1,000 Palestinian family members hosted for the Hajj pilgrimage, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 2,000 for this year's pilgrimage season. The Saudi Minister of Islamic Affairs, Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh, underscored the significance of this compassionate act, emphasizing the Kingdom's steadfast commitment to standing in solidarity with Palestinian families and advancing the broader Palestinian cause.
The gesture reflects Saudi Arabia's ongoing efforts to alleviate the hardships faced by Palestinians and provide tangible support to those affected by conflict and displacement. By extending this invitation to Palestinian families, the Kingdom reaffirms its role as a compassionate leader in the region, dedicated to fostering unity, compassion, and humanitarianism within the Islamic community.
