Previous MP claims this is most significant elections in South Africa since 1994

(MENAFN) In an exclusive interview with RT, Andile Mngxitama, a former South African Member of Parliament representing the uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK) party, has characterized the recently concluded elections as the most pivotal since the nation's transition to democracy in 1994. Mngxitama expressed a belief that the ruling African National congress (ANC) faces formidable challenges that could culminate in its defeat.

According to Mngxitama, there exists a tangible possibility that the ANC may lose its grip on power, paving the way for the emergence of a new governing entity. He raised concerns regarding a potential coalition between the ANC and the Democratic Alliance (DA), cautioning against what he perceives as the detrimental implications of such an alliance. Mngxitama warned that such a coalition could usher in a government that aligns with conservative, anti-black, and pro-capitalist ideologies, thereby hindering progressive initiatives aimed at addressing societal issues like poverty, land inequality, and economic disenfranchisement.

Additionally, Nobuntu Hlazo-Webster, the deputy president of the Build One South Africa (BOSA) party, emphasized the critical importance of trustworthy leadership in combatting incompetence and corruption. Hlazo-Webster underscored the electorate's desire for leaders who prioritize job creation and economic stimulation, particularly through initiatives targeting the untapped economic potential of townships and the establishment of special economic zones.

Echoing similar sentiments, Ernest Hlathi, chair of the African People's Convention (APC) party, criticized the ANC for what he perceives as a failure to adequately address the needs of South Africa's populace. Hlathi highlighted the nation's paradoxical situation of being resource-rich yet plagued by pervasive poverty and dependence among its citizens.
