(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) TBILISI, Georgia, May 2. CAREC has one of thehighest shares in CO2 emissions, ADB Director General for Centraland West Asia Eugene Zhukov said, Trend reports.
He made the remark during the panel discussion on FinancingCleaner Value Chains in the CAREC Region (Central Asia RegionalEconomic Cooperation Program).
“Global value chains support trade, particularly in moreemissions-intensive sectors. Among CAREC countries, Mongolia andKazakhstan are driving changes in the level of participation inglobal value chains. Mining and metallurgy are key drivers,” hesaid.
To note, CAREC is a partnership of 11 countries and developmentpartners working together to promote development through regionalcooperation, leading to accelerated growth and sharedprosperity.
The CAREC 2030 strategy supports five operational clusters andthree cross-cutting themes.
