Turkmenistan To Host CIS Council Of Heads Of Government Meeting


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, April 26. The meetingof the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Council of Heads ofGovernment will be held in Ashgabat city, the capital ofTurkmenistan, on May 24 this year, Trend reports.

According to an official source, this was stated by the Ministerof Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov during a meetingof the Cabinet of Ministers.

In this context, he noted that in the implementation ofTurkmenistan's foreign policy, great importance is attached tofruitful cooperation with the CIS countries, adding that as anassociate member of the Commonwealth, the country regularlyparticipates in CIS events and makes a significant contribution tothe development of multilateral partnerships.

"Currently, proper work is being carried out in order toorganize preparations for the meeting of the CIS Council of Headsof Government. In this regard, it is also planned to hold aninformation briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ofTurkmenistan on May 20 and a corresponding working meeting in thecapital on May 23," he said.

Furthermore, they concluded that, following the results of thismeeting, it is planned to sign a number of documents and hold apress conference.

Meanwhile, the development of Turkmenistan's cooperation withthe countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS)continues to gain importance in the region.

The country is actively strengthening economic, political, andcultural ties with other CIS members by participating in variousinitiatives, such as joint projects in the fields of energy,transport, and trade.
