The Azerbaijannational team on acrobatic gymnastics is preparing for the stagesof the World Cup, Head coach of the Azerbaijani national team onacrobatic gymnastics Irada Gurbanova told Trend atthe sidelines of the 29th Azerbaijan Championship among AgeCategories and Baku Championship in Acrobatic Gymnastics.
Gurbanova mentioned that the current championship competitionsserve as crucial training sessions for most members of the nationalteam ahead of the World Cup stages.
"Three series of World Cup stages commence in May. Currently,we're gearing up for these Cups, along with parallel tournamentswhere the junior team of the national team will participate. Ourprimary focus lies on the World Championships in acrobaticgymnastics scheduled for September in Portugal. Hence, thecompetitions slated for April 25–26 serve as a trial run, we're conducting some selections for potentialcandidates for the national team," she said.
Speaking about the training of the national team members, thehead coach noted that the first day of the competition showed thatthe team stood ready.
"We have two more weeks of preparation before the World Cup. Ourteam is solid and capable. We've maintained consistent performancethus far, and I have confidence it will persist. Our competitorsfrom Ukraine, the UK, Germany, Belgium, and Israel pose formidablechallenges at international competitions. Nonetheless, we strive tomaintain our standards," said the head coach.
The Heydar Aliyev Sports and Concert Complex in Baku is hostingthe 29th Azerbaijan Championship among Age Categories and the BakuChampionship in Acrobatic Gymnastics, taking place on April25–26.
A combined contingent of 71 gymnasts hailing from BakuGymnastics School,“Ojaq” Sports Club, Neftchi Sports Club, andSpecialized Children-Youth Gymnastics School of Olympic ReservesNo. 13 are set to participate in the tournament.
