New Park With Air-Conditioned Jogging Tracks To Open Soon

doha, qatar: qatar will soon have another major public park with air-conditioned jogging tracks in rawdat al hamama, said an official.

“rawdat al hamama public park, a central park which is being developed over a very large area to serve many surrounding areas and neighbourhoods, will open soon,” said project manager at the supervisory committee of beautification of roads and public places in qatar, jassim abdulrahman fakhroo.

speaking to qatar tv recently, he said the park will have air-conditioned jogging tracks.“it will have large green spaces with many trees from qatari environment. there will be enough parking lots to accommodate a large number of vehicles. it will also have play areas for children of different age groups,” said fakhroo.

explaining central and neighbourhood (freej) parks, he said central parks are bigger in size (with difference of thousands of square metres) compared to the neighbuorhood parks.

he said most of the central parks are equipped with jogging tracks and fitness equipment among other facilities to attract people of all age groups.“there are a number of central parks in qatar such as al gharafa public park, umm al seneem public park and rawdat al khail park in muntazah,” said fakhroo.

speaking about the future plan of supervisory committee of beautification of roads and public places in qatar, he said:“our ambition is to increase the number of beaches, develop more public beaches, open new beaches and build many new neighbourhood parks.”

he said the committee aims at providing more neighbourhood parks and green spaces, and encouraging people to adopt healthy lifestyle by participating in outdoor activities in public parks and beaches.

“increasing green spaces will encourage people to go outside, the nearest public parks as most neighbourhoods have at least one public park,” said fakhroo.

he said that neighbourhood parks have been designed in a way to serve people of all age groups.

“most of the neighbourhood parks have basic facilities such as jogging tracks, cycling tracks, play areas with equipment for children, trees from qatari environment and green spaces among others,” said fakhroo.

he said that neighbourhood parks are very important in a way that they are very close to people's homes, mostly at walking distance.

“the supervisory committee of beautification of roads and public places in qatar is increasing public parks and green spaces to reduce the carbon footprint,” said fakhroo. according to a study, he said, greenery gives positive energy to people.
