Zelensky: Access To Drinking Water Hampered For Hundreds Of Thousands Of People Due To Kakhovka HPP Explosion


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Access to drinking water has been greatly hampered for hundreds of thousands of people following the Kakhovka HPP dam explosion by the Russians.

“We are establishing more details about the damage Russia has caused by this disaster. In more than 40 settlements, life is broken. For hundreds of thousands of people in many towns and villages, access to drinking water has been greatly hampered,” President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky posted on telegram .

The President stressed that Russia must be held accountable for this deliberate crime against people, nature and life itself.

He noted that efforts are being made at all levels of state and local authorities to rescue as many people as possible from the flooded areas, the evacuation is ongoing.“Wherever we can get people out of the flood zone, we do so. The State Emergency Service, police and military are doing a great job! I want to thank each and every person involved!” Zelensky added.

The President also shared a photo of the consequences of the Kakhovka HPP explosion by the Russians and the rescue of people.

As reported, the Russian army blew up the Kakhovka HPP dam on the night of June 6. Rescue operations and measures to evacuate the population from flood areas continue in the danger zone in the Kherson region. The situation remains particularly critical in the temporarily occupied territories where the Russian invaders left the civilian population without any help, while access for Ukrainian rescue services to these people is extremely difficult or impossible.
