Iran to Send Strong Contingent of Athletes to 2023 Special Olympics World Games in Berlin


(MENAFN) Iran is set to participate in the 2023 Special Olympics World Games in Berlin, Germany, with a delegation of 25 athletes. Ali Kashi, Iran's Chef de Mission, announced that the athletes will compete in nine different events, showcasing their skills and determination on the global stage. The team's slogan for the Special Olympics World Games is "Together We Are Invincible," highlighting the unity and strength that the athletes embody.

The Iranian athletes will partake in a range of sports, including futsal, cycling, badminton, table tennis, athletics, skateboarding, bowling, boccia, and swimming. Each athlete has trained extensively in their respective discipline, honing their abilities and preparing for the tough competition they will face at the Games. They are eager to represent their country with pride and demonstrate their talent and dedication to their chosen sports.

The Special Olympics World Games, scheduled from June 17 to 25, 2023, will witness the participation of approximately 7,000 athletes and Unified partners from around 170 countries. Berlin will serve as the host city, providing a platform for athletes with intellectual disabilities to showcase their abilities and compete at the highest level. The event aims to promote inclusion, acceptance, and respect for individuals with intellectual disabilities, celebrating their achievements and breaking down barriers.

The Iranian athletes will receive invaluable support throughout the Games. More than 3,000 coaches will guide and mentor the participants, providing them with the necessary guidance and encouragement to excel in their respective sports. Additionally, a team of 20,000 dedicated volunteers will assist in various roles, ensuring the smooth running of the event and creating a positive and inclusive environment for all participants.
